Crime Stoppers WNY is offering a reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to the arrest or indictment of the person(s) responsible for a hit-and-run that injured a Town of Tonawanda Police officer.
On Monday, May 29, 2023, at approximately 8:00 p.m., Town of Tonawanda Police stopped a black Kia Sportage on Sheridan-Parkside Drive. The vehicle had been reported stolen. During the traffic stop, the driver of the stolen vehicle fled the scene at a high-rate of speed, dragging the police officer. Officer David Piatek was seriously injured during the incident.
